completed

The fact that my new little cousin has not a handknit to her name (well, that fits, anyway!) was weighing heavily on my mind, so I dug into the stash and found some beautiful SheepyChic, purchased at Bendigo 2008.

It wasn't until I started knitting it up that I really got to see them beautiful range of colours in this skein. There is all shades of browns, subtle pinks and lilacs, and vibrant hot pink and ultraviolet - just gorgeous!

The pattern is Elizabeth Zimmerman's February Sweater, which every man and their dog have made already, I know, but it is a good one.

I didn't have quite enough to finish the body, so I added a final border using Jo Sharp DK, in "Beetle", which worked a treat. The crochet edging around the two fronts and neckline finished it off, and the final touch?

A pretty crochet floral "brooch"

and all made in a much roomier size! This will probably fit next Autumn, I'm thinking...

Every little girl needs a flower brooch! What a kick ass baby sweater. You really have a gift for baby knits, do you know that?

that is fab! I wasn't sure how well the FBJ would work in variegated yarn but this is wonderful, especially with the crochet trim and the perfect flower brooch!

Ooh, the beetle border's great, it makes the variegated yarn stand out nicely.

I think I'm the only knitter on the planet who hasn't attempted a February baby or lady Sweater. I think I do see a lady-sized version in my future though...

Ok I know I'm not meant to peak but the cardi is amazing, it will suit baby girl down to the ground!Love the fact that we have the same taste (chalk that one up to nan I say). Also just wanted to let you know that the premmie cardi's are being given a massive workout in special care. My friend Heather who's a midwife there said they're using them everyday, mostly for photo's (as you say it's hard to find beautiful stuff for premmies). But I love the new cardi can't wait to use it, it will make up for the fact that I never got to use the small stuff. Which, quite frankly greived me.
