it's my Christmas present to my mother

my lotus arm piece, still a little flaky ;)

I had a cover up done on an old piece on my arm. Mum hated the old one, which was much smaller (you can still see it peaking through a tiny bit in the bottom section with the waves), so she's going to LOVE this one. I think I'll do the big reveal at Christmas lunch, after a few wines!

this shot was taken the day I had it done, so very bruised and shiny, but I wanted to show the beautiful leaf that blooms up onto my shoulder. I love the shape of it so much.

I've wanted a lotus tattoo for such a long time - a symbol of beauty coming from mud, and every time I look down at my arm it makes me very happy. It reminds me that adversity can produce beautiful rewards, and my reward was so very, very good; my darling Lily-girl :)

it's stunning. Artistically and symbolically. Well done! What does Lily think?

And you must report your mother's reaction!

I think it's fab. I don't have the guts to get one done or the style to carry it off, but it is perfect for you.

My brother had a big (ugly!) tatt of a skull with a snake writhing through it and a dagger through the skull. Mum HATES it. She reckons the only redeeming feature is that he had his blood type tattood underneath it (he was in the army). Maybe you could do that! (heh!!!) Yours is much more beautiful than my brother's!!
