Use or Lose it 2013 FO#01

First pair of socks finished for 2013, and first UILI FO done and dusted!

Harvest Dew by Rose Hiver - free on Ravelry
Needles: 2.25mm
Socks that Rock Lightweight - Rooster Rock
Date stashed: January 2008!

Loved this pattern!  Much simpler than it appears, and very easy to memorise and "read" your knitting, so not much need to refer to the pattern often.

Did I do the yarn justice?  Meh, I don't know.  I don't love them but I don't hate them either?  They were fun to knit.  They fit well.  The colours are quite pleasing both in the patterned and in the stocking stitch sections.  Could have been worse.

The best thing though?  The yarn is out of the stash!

I also joined another Ravelry sock group this week - The Thrifty Knitters Sock Club.

Their blurb:
Thrifty Knitters Sock Club was created to give those of us who love the idea of doing a sock club, but don’t want to (or can’t) invest $25 or more per month for the yarn & pattern, the chance to participate! You supply the yarn and we’ll select patterns for you each month. We provide two pattern choices, one toe up and one top down, each month.

Dovetails perfectly with my UILI aspirations, and I'm nearly finished the first pair for their January KAL too.

The patterns for January were A Twist of Citrus and Della.  Even though A Twist... was toe up, I loved the way the lace looked in the gradient yarn, so I modified and have worked them top-down.

I don't think it really affects the pattern too adversely, do you?

First one finished, and just about to start the heel flap on the second one, so hopefully by Jan 31st these will be off the needles!

Pretty chuffed about two pairs of socks in a month!

The Thrifty Sock club is such a good idea and the socks look lovely. I did that with the Baudeleire (spelling!!) they were toe up and I like top down. Love your multi coloured socks, I think them not meh!!

Love both socks. Harvest Dew is almost making me think of starting a pair.

I was just thinking today that I haven't finished a pair of socks in ages! Go you, with nearly 2 pairs already this year!

Hi. I don't know how I missed your blog all this time, as we have many blog friends in common!

I love the affordable sock club idea. I don't usually like variagated yarn with patterned socks, but your really works. I think the longer runs of each color are better than the shorter kind.

And I'm in love with the Harvest Dew pattern. Already queued it!

oh my goodness, before i'd even got to the end of the post i was thinking She is a sock knitting machine! so yes, i'd be chuffed too. they look fantastic, and i think the STR ones look great, the stripey parts would have worked well in plain too, but patterned socks go quicker i reckon. looking forward to seeing what else you have in your sock stash!
