java jaywalkers

being the last knitter in the universe not to have knit this pattern, I felt it was only my duty to cast on.

It really is a lovely pattern for a handpainted yarn, all the subtle variations coming through in the most delightful zigzags. It knits up very quickly, too, which is always a plus!

Cherry Tree Hill "Java"

I am way beyond fashionably late with my Flashback Friday post, and to be perfectly honest, I didn't think I had anything to contribute to this week's theme, "T-shirt". Until I remembered this:

I was given it for my 21st, so waaay after 1985, but I think the original owner may have got it in the late 80's. It's a Painters & Dockers gig t-shirt, from their Die Yuppie Die tour, and on the front is the letter to the Arts Minister from the cultural terrorists who spectacularly managed to steal Picasso's "Weeping Woman" from the NGV.(1986). I particularly like the bit where they offer the "Minister for Plod" a "sporting seven days" to meet their demands!

I always coveted it from his collection, and he presented it to me, unwashed, for my birthday.

I've treasured it ever since, and thinking of him always brings a smile to my face.

I have that very yarn - I'm also considering jaywalkers for it (as I've seen it done before too) - lovely.

Cool t-shirt!

Sorry, but you're the second to last person to knit a pair of Jaywalkers. The last would be me. Groovy colorway.
