sock monster

The Christmas knitting has begun...

For my 14yo niece, toe-up knee-hi's, in Opal Hundertwasser, shade #1434.

Not personally a huge fan of this yarn - it's a touch too close to novelty yarn for me, and the novelty is wearing thin!

...and it feels like hemp rope to knit with, particularly after the luxurious socks yarns I've become accustomed to.

but the kids seem to love it, and bang-for-buck, in the opening-of-the-Christmas-presents-flurry, it makes a showy entrance, I suppose. In the big picture, I'd do anything for any of my three nieces, so this isn't really that much of a chore.

one down, one to go...

You're rockin' the holiday knitting. And knee highs, even. What a good auntie you are!

When it comes to Auntie-gift-knitting, to paraphrase Kander & Ebb: give 'em the ol' razzle dazzle... how can they see with Opal in their eyes?

You're on to a good thing there

What pattern are you using? I've been looking for a good ribbed knee-highs pattern. Very nice, very bright socks!

What sock monster didn't hanker to make a showy entrance?
