brrr: baby, it's cold outside!

The chill has set in this week in Melbourne (it's 12*C as I write this) , and my thoughts are turning to wool, wool and more wool (like they weren't already there!).
I seem to be going through my woollen socks quicker than my hand-washing basket (hand-washing - not my favourite job), so I feel it is time to get my dpn's out again and replenish the sock drawer.

I had a little money in my PayPal account after an unfortunate Oztion transaction (too long a story, not all that interesting, and it all worked out for the best in the end anyhow, so I won't bore you here).

Now, in my mind, PayPal money is free money, so naturally it was too tempting to leave sitting
there.

Live2Knit have just released a new collection, and I've ordered Tidal and Kelp in sock weight, two delicious shades of green - mmmmm! I'm busy over at Ravelry trolling the queue to see which pattern they will become...

I also stupidly put a birthday reminder gadget on my iGoogle page, which is insistently telling me that there are now only 5 days, 7 hours and 45 minutes until my nieces' birthday, and I'm about halfway through her jumper - eek! I foresee some late nights ahead (or an I.O.U. in a card)

There's a pot of chickpea and vegetable soup bubbling on the stove, the skies outside are grey, but the lamps inside are casting a warming light, and the lounge room feels snug and cosy - just perfect environment to sit down for some hard-core endurance knitting! I got the new Martha Wainwright cd this week, and it is proving a great soundtrack to set the mood. There's something about her voice I just love...

Oh, and we are doing the happy dance, my friends and I, because we scored tickets to The BREEDERS this week!!!! \m/

and thanks for all the welcoming notes to Lucy - you'll be pleased to know she is tucked up away from the chill in a felted pouch, with a heated wheat sack to snuggle. Can everyone say "SPOILT"?!

Hand wash, you've got to be kidding me!

I chuck all my hand knit socks in a lingere bag on the gentle wash cycle, haven't felted anything - yet!

Lucy is a very cute 'pig, I had to laugh at that pic, it looks like her eyes are about to pop out of her head : )

I too feel that paypal money is free money. It's like this little stash that's removed from real world responsibilities, spending priorities and the boring reality of bills. Did you pay for the lovely Lucy with some of that paypal money? Or was Lucy dropped down by a stork with a big ribbon wrapped around her?

Can you pass on a belated happy birthday to Lily from me. I can't believe she's nine already. How time has flown.
