the week that was...

Where does a week go?

I have applied myself steadily, but without pressure, to my aim to finish those UFO's that have been hanging around.

Sadly for you, dear readers, most of my finished items are gifts yet received, so you will have to be satisfied with this glimpse until the items have been given.

I did find a good button match for my Pea Pod cardigan however, and right in my button jar - no shopping required (whoever would have thought?!).

I am notorious for not being able to part with the buttons from my button jar ("these would be *perfect*"..."but then I won't have them, and I love them so"..."I only need three"..."but that only leaves 2, and what use will 2 be?"...and so on) so I was doubly happy with the match between these op-shop lovelies & knitting, AND my ability to part with them :)

After making quite a few cowls for friends of late, I also managed to make one for myself this week.
It is another Darkside Cowl (because when you're on a good thing, stick to it).

I used Shepherd 12ply Felted Lambswool, which IMHO compares well with Malabrigo Merino Worsted, and when acquired on sale, is a mere snip of the price!

I have also had a good run on my Granny-a-Day project this week, completing 15 grannies instead of the requisite 7.

Nothing if not ambitious (and an A-type personality!) I am finding it just *heaven* to sit and granny each day, I must say. It is a wonderful exercise in colourwork, and I'm finding it achieves a good meditative balance during my lunch break, leaving me calm and refreshed for the afternoon.

that and the fact that they are just. so. dammed. addictive.

Look at the lovely glimpse of pretty knits! Can't wait for the grand reveal(s)!

And I know exactly what you mean about the buttons - I'm the same! (and with yarn too!!)

Your cowl looks great - love the button for it too!!

I really do love the light blue/red combo, it's so sunshiny and happy.

A lot different to the word verification I got for this comment (anger).

All beautiful photographs but the one of you - you look just gorgeous. What big blue eyes you have. Better hang on to this one for whenever you might be in any doubt.

Looking forward to the finished granny square blanket.

What a great post - chockablock full as it is of mystery, suspense, beauty, triumph, AND ongoing knitting. Hurrah for being alive!

P.S. Your week was much better than mine, though I did work a bit on my Babette squares, too, and on Olivia while at the emergency vet getting Fiend fixed up again after another fight. It's nice to live vacariously....

Love it all: love the cowl, love the peapod, love the blanket! I know what you mean about just making a square a day, what a nice, achievable target!

The pile of knits look truly gorgeous! Look forward to seeing them in all their glory! I intend to join the granny a day soon. Your granny squares are fab, how many colours do you need to get to make a blanket? Is more better?
