Larch, in alpaca

In the week just past, this...

became this...

Using Misti Alpaca purchased on our Sassafras trip back in October 2011, I cast on a "Larch" shawl this week.  The yarn is in the "Surf" colourway and although this photo doesn't really capture the colour and subtle variations well, trust me - it is simply beautiful.

Larch is a free pattern off the net.  A fairly simple triangle construction shawl but the pattern does required some basic grasp of techniques as it doesn't really spell things out that clearly in some parts.

The real star in this piece is the yarn, though.  It is un-believable! An alpaca-merino-silk blend, so soft and squishy.

This piece is one of my entries in the 2012 Red Hill Show, so I was on  a deadline!   Surprisingly, a deadline easily met, finishing it on Sunday and entries aren't due til Wednesday - huzzah!

Gorgeous work, love that blue and if it's soft and squishy as well that's even better :-)
