First FO for 2007

First finished item for Lolly's Project Spectrum (with full awareness that it doesn't formally start until February)
The BIG.BAD.BABY.BLANKET. (pattern from Stitch n Bitch, Debbie Stoller)
materials: Patons Jet, on 5mm needles

(blocking)
Beautiful muted shades of pale gray, charcoal and taupe.
(I'm not a pastelle-kinda gal when it comes to babies)
I've had this on the needles for a while - it was an ongoing "comfort" project, one I could pick up when my more complicated items were proving perverse! In the spirit of only having 3 WIP's at any given time, however, I decided it was time to put this baby to bed!
I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome, even though I had my doubts during the process. The wool straight from the ball is a little rough, yet after washing in wooly wash and blocking, it is soft to the touch, with a lovely drape.
So now it's time to fold it, protect it with lavender-and-cedar-sachets, and wrap it in tissue for storage...

Oooohhhh. That's a gorgeous baby blanket. I like the non traditional baby colours too.
Fab choice of warm greys!
Nice, very nice.
(The pastel colours of baby wool make me shudder)
