back on track

I feel like my groove is one hundred percent ON, at the moment.

Yes, I'm getting a lot of knitting done, but that's not always been an indication of content. For the first time in such a long time, I feel like I'm so, so happy and comfortable with the place I'm in. Life feels very right here, right now, and good, yeah?

Already, I'm more social this year than I have been in the last 5. I find myself really wanting to go out, and I'm happy rocking up to places alone, because I'm always meeting up with those I love and hold dear. And if I want my own company, I can feel confident to say, sorry - time for me.

One friend commented that it was good to have me back, and I totally got what she meant, because it feels like that sums it up - I'm back. I've got myself back, and that's a pretty fantastic place to be...

Anyway, the upshot of all this good vibration is a spur in productivity...

one gift sock down, one to go...

I cast on the second the same night as finishing the first, despite the multiple glasses of wine (!)

I find this is the only way I circumvent "second-sock-syndrome", and if it works, hey - wine or no wine, we go forth with the method!

I showed them to my Mum, telling her who they were intended for, and her first comment was "Oh, yes, they are very _________'s colours." So I feel very confident in the choice of recipient. (just hope the fit is good!)

And in true Kgirl fashion, just as one item is almost at completion, I started something else.

Never mind the fact that the socks were started as a distraction from another project (which will get finished, I'm sure, just don't know when...)

I've been promising Lily a new handknit for quite some time now, and she has been subtly marking her faves with post-it tabs. Something hit me yesterday, and out came the chosen wool, and off we went! Back and both fronts are complete, two sleeves, hood and some ribbing to go...

Thankfully she had a friend over for the weekend, so entertainment was taken care of, and I could sit (aside from providing the occasional obligatory sustenance and hydration) happily and knit all weekend! I loved sitting happily knitting and listening to the chatter of two 8 year old BFF, and where their imagination takes them. So grateful for even the smallest insight into their world.

It's Bendigo Rustic in the colour Wineberry, and is knitting up very quickly after teeny tiny sock-and-pea-pod-yarn!

It and the socks are my first contributions this year to Project Spectrum 08, the first element being Fire...

Glad things are so ace for you at the moment, Kylie. Last year I tried to learn how to knit. I gave it a go for all of one day. Maybe the problem was that I wanted to learn how to knit a pair of socks... E and G said I was mad... I think they were right. xo lj
