no, it's not an indication of the finances here.Tonight I, along with the girls who shared it with me the first time around, are off to relive a bit of our youth.
We're heading off to see Dogs in Space on the big screen, digitally remastered and all.
We weren't actually old enough to get past the R rating when it screened first, so I have only ever seen it on video. Funnily, this time around it's M15+ - how times and tolerances have changed.
We all wanted to be Anna (Saskia Post) and were totally enraptured with Sam (Michael Hutchence). Yes, he's a drug-fucked loser and she dies of an overdose, but it all seemed so exciting and cool, y'know? (and this is probably why we weren't allowed to see it as 15yo's - impressionable little romantics that we were!)
Can't believe how freakin' excited I am!! I've even dragged one of my old dresses out of storage for the occasion, and have a ridiculously big smile on my face everytime a favourite quote is remembered...ah, hope it lives up to the memories

you know, I never did see that movie - but from your description, is it life imitating art, or the other way around. Poor old Michael Hutchence, he was a bit of a spunk wasn't he.
Wow flash backs galore. One of my favourite movies from my out of control days of youth. I actually worked with the guy that played the dorky dude from the front room.
I knew a girl who was in that film. I was 18 at the time - it certainly was a film to see with a huge gang of friends.
Do you remember how they advertised it while it was still being filmed? They stencilled DOGS IN SPACE and the lightning bolt symbol on heaps of footpaths around town. And no one knew what it meant (except those of us who knew a girl who was in it, natch) until it was released. Wonderful word of mouth, underground marketing.

well thanks for that little trip down memory lane! i think i saw this at the valhalla in glebe, and probly wasnt too straight myself at the time (also 18). hope it delivered again.
I love this movie, I've been waiting for years for them to release it on dvd, no luck yet.
Lucky you getting to see it on the big screen, hope it's just as fantastic, I'm sure it will be.
How much fun has the festival been? Be it one film, five films or twenty-nine... it's be a blast. And there's something especially exciting about revisiting the past, too.
I have never seen this movie...I think I need to now.
Anyone who could have written this post was sure to love the black and gold dress. Generally the reaction is that it IS too much, but I AM going to wear it. I am a bit put off buying a hot pink rouched, one shoulder number I saw though. I don't really have enough hair for a Charlene moment.
