I gave up Christmas knitting a long time ago because I found it far too stressful, particularly at a time of year that is already subject to loads of extra stress.

This year I’m making a small exception, just for these...

Crochet amigurumi Mario Bros mushrooms!

I’m making them as a set of Christmas tree decorations for a friend of mine, who has a bit of a fetish for all things to do with old-school gaming.

It’s my first go at amigurumi, and I was surprised at how easy it was?! Just round and round double crochet, and a bit of counting. I’ll definitely be having a go at more patterns now!

If you’d like to have a go at your own set, you can find the super-helpful, well written pattern here.

and yes, I do know this isn't the specific "1-UP" 'shroom...I just couldn't resist the title :)

Love it! They are so easy and so cute, aren't they!

(I do very little Christmas crafting too - I'm a bit selfish like that!)

Cute! It's difficult to resist the charms of Mario characters/items I think.

Completely agree on the Christmas knitting front too. It's already a stressful time of year, why make that stress worse?

I kind of know about the Super Mario Brothers, but not really. This, however, is so cute!!! I think it's too hot to knit for Christmas here.
