festive tidings

Has everyone survived the cray-cray?!

We had a fairly busy day on the 25th, but I did manage to get a beach walk in before breakfast which helped immensely with grounding me for the day ahead.  So lovely living near the Bay and being able to walk out my door to the beach.  Nothing like a bit of salt air to settle any anxiety or tension.

I received some lovely gifts, including some knitting-related ones!

This book was on my list ever since participating in the stranded colour workshop run by Jules at the craft sessions earlier in the year.

and I have been lusting after this colourway of Jitterbug (Bright Charcoal) for like, ever! Mum lives fairly close to Sunspun, so with a bit of a nudge she came through with the goods, bless her.

It reminds me of graffiti, I can't wait to knit it up into something.  The larger skeins Colinette is now producing on this yarn gives a great put up to, so the skies the limit for pattern options.

I did a little bit of self-spoiling too, in the form of another order (maybe two) from WEBS.  I think I've finally uploaded it all to the Stash on Ravelry.

One lovely purchase was some more Cascade 220 Sport, earmarked for a Summer Festival. This pattern is the adult version of Ferris Wheel, which you may remember I'm making for two of my nieces.  There's nothing dorky about having aunty/niece matching cardigans.  Nothing.

I'm obsessed with this colour at the moment.  I need to control myself and not buy all the yarn in it though.  My Peasy is going to be a very similar shade, and I also bought some 12ply Rustic from Bendigo to make some beanies.

I also slipped in a skein of Berroco Ultra Fine  in the Turquoise mix, for a lightweight shawl or cowl.  Maybe thinking I can modify Avery to suit the lighter-weight yarn?

There was more, so much more, but I'll show you the rest another time!

Now we're off to watch fireworks in the park - early version thankfully, so we'll be home in bed probably well before the bell tolls.  Lawd, I'm getting old.

Happy New Year to all - may 2014 bring much light and love to your lives
